Beijing’s Gong Gong Gong and Taipei’s Mong Tong are like-minded duos known for cinematic and raw sounds, merging transglobal melodies with undeniable grooves. On Mongkok Duel, the bands join forces to create an imagined soundtrack for a lost kung-fu film. These are the sonic accompaniments to a supernatural tale of honour, intrigue, and (of course) revenge.

Progressing from Gong Gong Gong’s long-standing Rhythm n’ Drone collaborative series, Mongkok Duel showcases the distinctive aesthetics of both groups, building a shared language of cyclical motorik rhythms, evolving drones, textural sound effects, snarling guitar and growling bass hooks.

Recorded live at the legendary President Piano Co. rehearsal rooms in Mongkok, Hong Kong, the bands played the studios’ own instruments and amplifiers, which date back to space’s founding in 1978. President Piano Co.’s recording system is a unique setup designed by owner Mr. Lee King Yat, giving the album its distinct vintage sound while maintaining impressive clarity.

As an homage to a pre–music streaming era where new music could only be found and appreciated in physical formats, this LP is first being issued as a vinyl-only release, available on Gong Gong Gong and Mong Tong’s Bandcamp pages and at their live performances.

行走於俠義道上遭遇四面埋伏的敵人，復仇之旅中一再為了情義而身陷困境。一招一式間的意念內有境界，凶險迎來時冥冥中自有主宰。這是一部失落已久的武俠片之原聲配樂，是 工工工 走火入魔的節奏和 Mong Tong 六馬仰秣的旋律相結合的一張概念大碟。

旺角龍虎鬥 是這兩個來自北京和台北的樂隊（團）獨特的音樂審美和風格的一次融會貫通： 結他的嚎叫低鳴、貝斯的轟轟作響和鍵盤的抑揚頓挫，通過反反覆覆的 Motorik 節奏一起往前邁步，在延綿不絕的 Drone 之間跌跌蕩蕩。

在位於 旺角 的 總統琴行 現場創作，工工工 和 Mong Tong 利用這所香港的傳奇排練房提供、自一九七八年起每天被樂手們使用的樂器和功放設備來進行演奏。而唱片內溫暖懷舊的音色和高保真的清晰度，源自總統琴行的創辦人—— 李擎一先生 自行設計和搭建的獨有錄音系統。在 李先生 的現場調音下，兩隊（團）共同創作的音樂得以被忠實地、以最佳方式紀錄下來。
